[INRAD] FT1000MP second RX Murata filter

I myself have installed Inrad 2.0 Collins mechanical filter into the optional slot for the second receiver, just by plugging it in. It has dramatically improved the second receiver on SSB, and I still can select the stock filter for AM and FM.
The narrow second receiver SSB filter is selected by depressing "SUB", and then "NAR 1" while listening to SSB with the second receiver. If you remove the original Murata filter and replace it, you will still have the option of selecting a different narrow filter for SSB or CW as you so desire.
I use the Inrad roofing filter in the Mark V, and I find the second receiver quite useful on AM, or to listen to otherwise wider signals. Being able to choose either bandwidth in the second receiver is indeed convenient.

Hi Tor,
I too have done this mod on a Mk5 FT1kmp field and plan to do it shortly on a Mk5FT1kmp (200watter).
In the field, I've used an inrad 2.1Khz and wired it in. I find that value very good for what I use this rig for - contesting. I believe others have also tried the 2.8 filter. I was in several minds in terms of what filter to use on the second rig, but have settled on another 2.1 KHz.
My personal observation is that now the sub-receiver sounds like you'd expect a primary receiver to sound. It's very very crisp with excellent selectivity.
Ideally, I would have like a 2.3 or 2.4KHz filter, but while I believe the Inrad Collins mechanicals would work, I figured I'd stick to the Inrad crystal filters.
Hope that helps.

I am interested if anyone else has made the modification to change the original ceramic Murata CFJ455K in the sub-rx of FT1000MP to another type of filter for example one of the Inrad´s, as did Hans Remeeus in his modification pages. http://www.remeeus.nl/english/hamradio/ft1000subrxfiltering.htm
Has Inrad done any tests with this question, and do they have ready-made replacement filter to it.
What would be the best suitable filter from Inrad to replace the original Murata CFJ455K.
