[INRAD] Problem with IC-718

I recently bought a 116 filter for my IC-718. No instructions
accompanied the filter. I consulted the Icom manual and plugged the filter
into the "option filter" socket. The Inrad catalog says the 718 filters are
"drop
in".

I can't get the filter to work using any of the menu setup combinations.
When the CW mode is active and I push the FIL button the receiver goes
dead-no sound at all. The same thing happens when the filter is removed.

Does this mean I have to pull the main board and solder the filter pins? Or
does this mean the filter is defective?

Please respond. This is frustrating.
