I have two FT1000Ds (the oldie but goodie model ;-). The roofers made a darn good receiver even better. Close in stations just don't bother me the way they used to. If you were to buy just one filter I would recommend the roofer for bang for the buck.

Installation is easier than it sounds. You do have to solder the power connections, but the locations are easy to access.
