I bought an FT-857D a couple of weeks ago and I am very impressed with it
for the size. I have got the carrier offset 100 Hz closer to the filter than
standard so that the response starts at a nominal 300 Hz instead on 400 Hz
which, I am told, sounds better. I am now considering adding one or two
extra SSB filters.
Does anyone know what the spec is for the fitted filter? It is given as 2.2
kHz but I have not seen what the shape factor is or how many poles.
The Inrad filter 717F is given as 2.3 kHz and 10 poles but how many poles
are there for the wider filter 706F, quoted as 2.6 kHz, and for the narrow
one 720F, quoted as 2.0 kHz?
Any other comments on these filters would be appreciated.
