Hi Mike,

I'm a very active contester and I owned a UFB '850-SAT for five years long.
Like Dean, I had different INRAD filters' setups to be used in each sort of
"race": SSB- 2 x 2.1KHz cascaded, RTTY-  400Hz plus cascaded 250Hz, CW-2 x
400Hz.
I also well remember the needed use of IF-Shift to have the right passband
with narrow CW filters.
In that conditions, my rig made me able to achieve several top world scores
in many contests.
Really a very good rig to me!

See you on air!

I'd like to solicit opinions on how to make the best use of the three
available filter slots in the Kenwood 850. My interest is in CW contesting
and DXing, but I have never owned a SSB filter in my life. Seems like the
1/2 punch of 500/250 Hz makes sense for CW, but which IF should the narrow
filter be installed in? What would be the best combination for CW only and
for CW as the primary mode with one SSB filter?

Thanks,
 -Mike, K4GU
