If you're truly gonna enjoy rtty, the 250hz is the ONLY way to go. I used a
400Hz filter for quite some time. When I eventually upgraded to the 250Hz,
the improvement was absolutely dramatic. In my current setup, I can choose
either a 500 or 250 and hardly ever use the 500Hz filter setting.
One issue may be "centreing" of the filter... I found with my Kenwood 850,
and the 250Hz, I had to use a slight offset of the IF-shift -- I think that
was what it was called... but once properly adjusted, no problem.
Try it... I'm sure you won't turn back!!!
